What is Box Office for Web?
Box Office for Web allows you to connect a Stripe terminal device to your Universe account on desktop, enabling you to process transactions directly through the Universe platform. This functionality was previously available only through our BoxOffice app, but now you can seamlessly process orders with your computer. It's a fast and efficient way to handle ticket sales at your event.
Who can access it?
The Box Office for Web feature is available to the host account (the main account used to sign up for your Universe account). In addition to the host, team members with granted access can also process transactions. You can customize permission levels for team members, so they can either view all orders in the Orders and Attendees page (including any orders processed online) or only the orders they’ve created.
The following is an event-level permission setting that can be used for team members to add and view created orders:
What devices can I use?
- Stripe BBPOS WisePOS E - A smart reader with a touchscreen display for countertop and handheld use.
- Stripe Reader S700 - An Android-based smart reader for countertop and handheld use.

Managing Your Device

- Once all information is entered, click the Checkout button. This will trigger an order processing screen on the Add an Order page, and your terminal device will prompt you to tap or insert the credit card.
- Once payment is processed, a confirmation will pop up on the Add an Order page.
Note: You also have the option to print your tickets. Learn more about our self-serve ticket printing feature.
How Do I View My Orders?
You can view processed orders on the Orders and Attendees page. Use the search and sort functions for easy navigation. Orders will be marked as Paid if successful, and Ended if the event has passed.
Identifying Web Box Office Orders in Your Reports
In the Orders Report, use the Payment Type column to search for web_stripe_terminal. The Purchase Channel column will also display add_an_order for these transactions.
What Happens if a Card is Declined?
If a card is declined, your terminal device will display a failure message. The Add an Order page will also show a modal indicating the failure.
You can try processing the payment again or select another payment method. If the issue persists, please attempt the transaction with a different card.
