How long does the experience take?
The experience itself lasts approximately 30 minutes, with most guests spending 45–50 minutes in total depending on how long they spend in the pre-ascent exhibition.
How high does the lift go?
The Chimney Lift travels 109 metres above ground level.
Do I have to take part in the ascent?
The ascent is a core part of the experience. We do offer an exhibition only ticket.
Will I have to queue?
Queue times can vary depending on arrival time and demand. Our quieter times are earlier in the morning or after 4pm.
Does the experience run in bad weather?
Yes, the Chimney Lift operates in most weather conditions.
TICKETS & BOOKINGS
What happens if I’m late?
Guests can usually join a later available slot on the day, subject to capacity.
Can I arrive early?
Yes, you can arrive early and explore the exhibition before your ascent. You can only join the queue for the ascent at the time on your ticket.
How many people can I bring?
Group sizes are subject to booking availability and capacity limits per session. Up to 24 people can ascend at one time. Groups exceeding this will be split into separate ascents.
Can I change or manage my booking?
Bookings can be managed online via the manage your booking link. Tickets are non-refundable.
ACCESSIBILITY
Is the experience step-free?
Yes, step-free access is available via a dedicated accessibility lift, which must be booked in advance. You can add the accessibility lift using the link below
Are there wheelchair limits?
Yes:
• Max width: 65 cm
• Max length: 115 cm
• Max combined weight: 300 kg
Can I bring a mobility scooter?
Mobility scooters are not permitted inside the experience, but can be stored onsite.
Do you offer carer tickets?
Yes, one complimentary carer ticket is available per guest with supporting documentation.
Are assistance dogs allowed?
Yes, assistance dogs that meet ADUK guidelines are permitted.
Is there support for sensory needs?
Yes, but some areas include:
• Low lighting
• Loud audio
• Enclosed spaces
Guests can speak to staff for support.
ON THE DAY
Where is The Chimney Lift located?
Inside Battersea Power Station, Level 1, Turbine Hall A.
Can I bring food or drink?
Only sealed items required for medical reasons are permitted.
Can I bring bags or personal items?
Guests should keep personal belongings with them at all times.
Are pushchairs allowed?
Pushchairs are not permitted inside the experience. A buggy park is available.
Is there seating?
Yes, seating is available throughout multiple areas of the experience.
THE ASCENT
How long is the lift journey?
The express lift takes around 40 seconds, followed by the main chimney ascent lasting up to 12 minutes. (varies by demand and queue times between 8 and 12 minutes )
Is the lift fully enclosed?
Yes, the Chimney Lift is fully enclosed with glass walls and ceiling (no glass floor).
Are there stairs?
Yes, guests must climb 39 spiral steps before boarding the chimney lift.

Are there toilets?
Accessible toilets are located nearby within Battersea Power Station.
Is there a bar?
Yes, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are available in the exhibition space.
Is there seating throughout?
Yes, seating is available across multiple areas.

What if I lose something?
Complete the Lost Property Form on our website. Items are held for up to 30 days. (14 days for umbrellas)
Can items be posted back?
No, lost property must be collected in person.
