Create discount codes that can apply to a single ticket type, a single event, specific event dates, or all events in your account. For each discount code, set the percentage off or fixed amount (per ticket), the number of tickets each code can be applied to, which ticket types each code applies to, and (if applicable) which event dates the code is valid for.
Note: Only one discount code can be used per order at checkout.
How to create/manage Event Discount Codes (EDCs)
Event Discount Codes apply only to the specific event where they are created.
To create or manage event discount codes:
- Log in to your Universe account and go to your My Events page.
- Select the event you would like to manage.
- From the Event Manager, select Discount Codes from the left-hand menu.
- Click Add Discount Code to create a new code.
- Enter the details for your code:
- Discount code name (the code to be entered in checkout)
- Discount amount and type (percentage or fixed amount)
- Uses (maximum number of uses)
- Applicable ticket types
Applicable timeslots. This will be set to 'all timeslots' by default. Select the 'Custom' option from the dropdown menu to configure your custom date and timeslot selection options.
- (Optional) To set activation and/or deactivation dates for a discount code, click the settings icon to display these options, then use the corresponding date and time selectors.
- Save your changes.
Tip: To share a link with the discount code automatically applied, click the link icon under Actions next to the discount code.
Upload discount codes via CSV (bulk upload)
To create multiple discount codes at once:
- Click the Import CSV button.
- Create a CSV file with one column only, containing the discount code names you would like to create.
- Upload the file and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Enter the shared details that should apply to all codes in that upload.
- Save.
Note: A maximum of 1000 codes can be uploaded per CSV file.
Note: Bulk uploaded codes will apply to all event dates by default. You may use the custom timeslots option to specify the days/timeslots you would like to apply to all codes in your import file, or you can edit individual codes afterward to customize their applicable dates.
After processing, you’ll receive a confirmation email noting any codes that could not be uploaded (for example, duplicate codes).
Export discount codes to CSV
To view all discount codes for an event in one file, click the Export CSV button from the Discount Codes page.
This will download a CSV file with a summary of your discount codes, including:
- Discount Code
- Amount
- Discount Type
- Total Available
- Uses
- Is Active
- Link
This export is useful if you want to review all codes in one place, track how many times each code has been used, confirm which codes are active, or easily access the direct links for sharing codes with buyers.
Tip: The Link column provides a direct link with the discount code automatically applied, making it easy to copy and share specific discounted checkout links.
Configure which ticket types accept discount codes
Select the Configure Applicable Rates tab to control which ticket types can accept discount codes by toggling them ON or OFF.
Your settings in Configure Applicable Rates override the settings in the Manage Discount Codes tab.
For example:
- If a discount code is set to apply to all ticket types, it will not apply to any ticket type toggled OFF in Configure Applicable Rates.
- Ticket types toggled OFF will not appear in the rate selection dropdown when creating or editing discount codes.
How to update a discount code that has exceeded its Uses/Quantity
When the number of Uses matches the Quantity set for a discount code, the code becomes inactive and fields will appear grayed out.
To update:
- Edit the discount code.
- Increase the value in the Uses/Quantity field.
- Save your changes.
Making changes to all discount codes (Bulk Actions)
To quickly update all discount codes for an event:
- Click Bulk actions at the top of the Discount Codes page.
- Select your desired action:
- Activate all discount codes
- Deactivate all discount codes
- Delete all unused discount codes
Global Discount Codes (GDCs)
Global Discount Codes apply to all events in your account, including future events. They are separate from Event Discount Codes.
GDCs are ideal for:
- Sponsors
- Partners
- VIP groups
- Ongoing promotions across multiple events
They can offer:
- Fixed amount discounts (e.g., $20 off)
- Percentage discounts (e.g., 30% off)
- Free tickets (100% discount)
Note: GDCs apply to all events and tickets, regardless of currency. For example, a fixed discount of “10” will apply as $10 USD, $10 AUD, £10 GBP, etc., depending on the event currency.
Note: GDCs apply to all event dates and timeslots. If you need to apply a discount code to a specific date range, please use event level discount codes instead.
Note: GDCs are reflected in reporting and buyer-facing emails.
To create/manage Global Discount Codes:
- Go to your Account Dashboard.
- Select the Discount Codes tab.
- Click Add Discount Code and enter your details. Alternatively, you may also upload discount codes in bulk via CSV (Note: A maximum of 1000 codes can be uploaded per CSV file).
- Save your changes.

How to exclude a ticket type from Global Discount Codes

- Select the Configure Applicable Rates tab.
- Toggle OFF any ticket types you do not want discount codes to apply to.
Both Event-level and Global Discount Codes will no longer apply to those ticket types.
