Note: This feature is currently only available for the Universe BoxOffice app on Android.
You can now add custom alert messages to specific ticket types in your event. These messages appear in the BoxOffice app when a team member scans a ticket—helping your box office staff stay informed and better support your guests.
Use custom alerts to:
- Flag any tickets that may have age restrictions, like youth or adult-only tickets
- Indicate if a guest needs accessibility accommodations
- Notify staff of special entry needs, such as VIP access
How to Add an Alert Message to a Ticket Type
Go to your Event Manager
From your Universe dashboard, open the event you want to update.
Open the Event Editor
In the left-hand menu, click on Tickets from the Event Information tab.
Edit a Ticket Type
Find the ticket type you'd like to add an alert message to and click the gear icon to open its settings.
Enable Alert Messages
Scroll down and toggle “Display alert message when scanned” to ON.
Enter Your Message
Add your custom message in the input field (up to 250 characters). This message will appear when a staff member scans this type of ticket in the BoxOffice app.
Save Your Changes
Don’t forget to hit Save before leaving the page!
How to Test Your Alert Message
Want to preview the alert message in action? Here's how:
- Navigate to Orders & Attendees
- Click Add an Order and issue yourself a comp ticket for the ticket type you just updated.
- Use the BoxOffice app to scan your test ticket.
- Upon scanning that ticket on the BoxOffice app, a pop-up will be displayed with the custom messaging. Scanners have the option to either cancel or continue checking in the attendee.
Tip
Keep alert messages brief and clear. Your box office staff only has a moment to read them as guests enter.
