After August 31, 2021, Universe will no longer be supporting pay by invoice (PBI) as a payment method. This payment method was used by some event organizers for situations where a customer would like to buy tickets for a Universe ticketed event, however, preferred to pay offline (ex. via a bank transfer directly to your bank account).
Why is Universe making this change?
This feature was used by a small number of event organizers, and required a large amount of manual work for event organizers to manage orders placed using this method.
What will this change do?
After August 31st 2021, event organizers will not be able to enable PBI as a payment method on any existing or new events. Only Pay by invoice will be removed, all other Payment Methods will remain supported.
What happens to events with Pay By Invoice already enabled?
If you have an event currently live with PBI enabled as a payment method, you will be able to continue to use this functionality until your event is over. This means you will still be able to use the Universe platform to issue proforma invoices to your customers, reserving their tickets, and marking the tickets as paid upon receipt of payment. You will not be able to create new events using Pay By Invoice, but your existing event(s) will be unaffected.
What next steps can an organizer take?
You are able to issue proforma invoices to your customers directly, off-platform, and accept payments to your bank account. Once payment is received and verified, you can issue tickets via Add Attendees.
We know this may be a change to your operations and we want to help with the transition in any way we can. If you have any questions about this change and if it will impact your event, please do not hesitate to Contact Support.
