How fees are calculated on Universe Payments

Universe charges a per-ticket service fee for all paid orders in our system. If you are using our payment processor, Universe Payments, to process payments for your event, a payment processing fee will be applied to every ticket (excluding free tickets). 

• Discounts are calculated on the face value of tickets. The face value is the cost of the ticket that was set during event creation.
• Additional fees are calculated on the face value of tickets (post discount, if applied).
• Taxes are then calculated on top of the face value of tickets + additional fees (post discount, if applied).
• The Universe Service Fee (which includes the processing fee for payments processed on Universe Payments) is subject to local taxes and is calculated as follows:

([{face value of tickets - discounts} + additional fees] + host added taxes) * % for Universe Service Fee + taxes on Universe service fee

 Note: If there are multiple additional fees, they are all calculated from the face value minus discounts, not on top of each other. If there are multiple taxes, they are all calculated from the face value, plus additional fees, minus discounts, not on top of each other.

Warning: If you are using Stripe to process payments, Stripe fees are applied on the Payment Amount, which includes the Universe Service Fee (if the fee is passed to the buyer).
